I lived as a British child along this street and visited these hotels - you cannot imagine how painful it is to see all this waste - and to hear of all the stupidity that caused it. A lot of people (both Greek and Turkish but Cypriot) lived here - hope you don't have their 'souvenirs' - as they had to leave because of politics - vvvvvvery sad.

turkish cypriots are quite happy that turkish army is in the island. If I wasn't a turkish cypriot I would shut up about other people and countries' choices. this area (varosha) is claimed as a military zone since 1974.

if I was turkish cypriot, i would be utterly disgusted by this place. While 40,000 people who are the legal inhabitants of this city are barred from entering it and going home after three-four decades, and an entire city lays to waste and is a ghost town, turkish soldiers can go sunbaking amongst the ghost hotels and homes. disgusting and sad. come on, turkish cypriots, stand up and make a sound!
